Today is sunny and warm and a great day for a drive south of Melbourne to Mornington Peninsula. Once we got well out of the city we headed to the Port Phillips Bay side of the peninsula. Miles and miles of beaches.
We stopped and photographed and walked along several beaches:
Frankston Beach
Mt. Martha’s Beach South with its beach boxes. Beach Boxes were originally built in the 1800's as storage and changing rooms. They are still in use today.
Safety Beach with its pier
We stopped for lunch at The Rocks on the pier in Mornington. As we ate we watched a gentleman retrieving stuff from his boat tied to the nearby pier. It had sunk in shallow water. While it was definitely under water he was able to retrieve some stuff from the boat.
The food was good and views were great. We wandered out to the end of the pier where we saw many people fishing...
and kids jumping in the water.
From the pier we could see the beach boxes that lined nearby Shire Hall Beach…
